Is it also possible to have the option to keep/extend when changing the track length of a single track? 🙂
Currently, it seems that this feature is only available for the global length.

grit It would also be amazing if the individual track length is kept after erasing the whole track. For me, it disrupts the workflow if I quickly want to delete and re-record a pattern with the desired length.
Right now, the track length is reset when pressing Alt-0, which adds a bothersome step of typing in the individual length again.
Would this be an option you could consider? 👉👈 🙂

in the current version we've changed this as per your suggestion: so erasing a track keeps the track-end markers now.

Also, deleting multiple notes simultaneously (Alt-0 + holding down a chord) would be awesome!

Select the active track with Alt-Track in performance mode.
Currently, Alt-Track is muting, too, which is a bit redundant. Additionally, entering performance mode automatically switches to T1 as the active track, regardless of the previously selected track, before pressing Alt+Route.
Sorry for the spam, haha. I'm having great fun with the RK8 right now, and it's already amazing. 🙂

There is not really an active track anymore in performance mode - once you use this the RK008 is in a 'default in-out mode' which means your midi channel will not be altered by track settings at all. This is also because in performance mode you have the realtime midi note transpose: If you set a track transpose value to 99 it will say 'PRF' and the track transpose value will respond to incoming notes on the 'RK008 remote control channel'. This feature is a bit hard to combine with the realtime track modifications in the 'regular Part mode'

Here are the quick key combo's to get in the options mentioned:
midi key performance transpose mode: ALT+5,99,REC (display shows 'PRF')
midi control channel set: ALT+9,>,REC,>,[input midi ch],REC
Performance mode: ALT+ROUTE

A key combo for undoing the last recording process would also be massive 🔥

press 'STOP' to discard the recording

(but once you've committed the recording, there is no way to discard it...)

Yes, the undo is the STOP button after a record session, a REC commits it to memory. And the RK008 has 8 tracks, if you feel you are in a pivotal point in the layering: Start recording on a separate track. If it all feels well and it has taken you 4 (or even 8) tracks to make it that's no problem because you can downmix them to one in a later stage anyway. You can copy Tracks from different Parts as well if you have scattered recordings and want to combine.

In step mode, it would be nice if you could jump to the next event without having to step through the whole pattern.

This is something which you can do with the new Event Editor, once in stepTime, press MODE to check events. event view is just a list of midi events which are happening in the track, not specifically events in a 64th, 32nd, 16th,… step.

If you want to ‘fast forward’ through data you can also increase the stepTime divider , e.g. move in 1/4 notes. When the rk008 is not playing it will sound the data in the step when browsing through it with << or >>
ALT+>> skips to the end of the track which sometimes is also a handy shortcut

My only feature requests that remain are some sort of Real Time Erase functionality, and I really do wish the Scale Mode had a root note select feature. I find myself never using the Scale Mode because it's kind of pointless once you start recording tracks, and then want to do stuff in Scale Mode. It would also make transposition in Performance Mode supercharged, like a NDLR-lite.

Also: Is there a way to convert a Song into a Part? I mean somewhere down the line I'll probably get another RK-008, but it would be nice to make songs, and have all those mutes etc, and then convert them down to a Part, and do some more microscopic editing in the Step Editor. Maybe this could be a memory limitation though.

Andrew J my vote for the Realtime Erase (also called erase head) functionality in the former Akai MPC style (hold Erase + note key while running). IMO current erase feature is too drastic while jamming in loop-recording mode and I would need to delete only a note or two, and Step editing is not applicable.

We have this on our list and have researched this feature but modifying the rk008 realtime recording for an instant eraser is not something which is easily implemented. We thought to release the midi fx and event editor first.

A feature request I have. I record a lot of ideas on the rk008 and I create a new part per idea. So I might end of with 5 -10 parts per song before the song gets maxed out. I then download to my computer

Is there a way when getting the midi file onto my computer to have the part number in the filename? Right now the file name has the full date, then time in brackets followed by rk008export.midi. If the part number could be included in the name, would help me to keep those files more organized. Possibly the song number as well could be useful. The current naming structure works fine, but feels it could be more specific.
