connecting rk008 to rk006

i have both the rk006 and the rk008 and want to connect them together so i can record usb midi devices in the rk008.

currently i have the rk006 and the rk008 connected with a sort of "midi loop" of short trs cables between the two devices. see photo this definitely works - i can record from my usb keyboard into the rk008 no problem.

but i was wondering if it was also possible to connect a usb cable from the rk008 into a usb hub connected to the rk006 and have the rk008 pick up everything going on within the rk006 that way. i couldn't get it work when i tried - i think the firmware of both devices has been updated. are there any settings on either of the devices you have to change to make it work in this fashion - or should it work automatically? (it might be that my usb hub is shoddy and that's why it's not working.)

anyway - if it's too difficult to get it going with usb connect between the devices, maybe i'll just stick with what i'm doing. it essentially does the same thing with a couple extra wires.

actually need to revise original post - the "midi loop" in the photo above doesn't work so well because there's some strange feedbacks when you record notes on top of each other.

so i changed the routing to just use the two midi outputs of the rk008 to connect to gear. and the rk006 just translates the usb midi into signal for the rk008

but there's probable a way to use the many outputs of the rk006 for more gear and stuff and have them be recorded/played back using the rk008. so i probably should figure out how to connect the two devices in a better way. anyway - let me know if anybody else has tried using these two devices in conjunction and if there were any settings that needed to be changed! thank you!!!

solved it on my own ( sorry for the extra posting lol )

just needed to get a different usb a to usb c cable to connect from rk008 to the hub connected to rk006 and then everything started working!! ok now i can get going, playing with these devices!

Yes this is how you can connect the two. Note that there is more going on than just hosting the RK008 via the RK008 (perhaps handy to know when something does not seem to function like expected): The RK008 sends out a device inquiry via MIDI, if there is a RK006 connected to it via TRS or USB then it will complete the handshake and there will be a little + next to the routing icon in the RK008 screen. When this is done all MIDI coming into the RK006 (the two TRS'ports and other connected USBMIDI devices) will first be rerouted to the RK008 for recording or processing and then routed back to the RK006 outputs.
