Planning to buy a RG-006 to use with my Keystep Pro and Volcas. But rather new to midi.
Do I need a RK-002 per volca that could make use of it (have FM, Bass and Sample) so which would lead me to buying 3 RK-002 midi cables. Or can I use a splitter for this?
Or am I just seeing this too complex and do I use the RK-002 to go from Keystep to RK-006 and then use the RK-006 as splitter to go to my Volcas?
I also saw a picture where the RK-002 is connected to the Midi IN and OUT from the same device. What is that used for?

I already learned that connecting the RK-002 to the Midi IN and OUT of the same device is to update the software on the processor.
But still wondering if I need multiple RK-002 for multiple devices or if I can combine it with a splitter like the RK-006 if the app applies to different volca's and I would like to connect these different volca's together.

If you can program/adapt code on the RK002 with the DUY portal (https://duy.retrokits.com) then you can use one RK002 to do the MIDI processing for all the different MIDI devices. You can connect the MIDI sender to the RK002 and feed the RK002 output into the RK006 for further distribution.

It is also possible to use the RK002 as a MIDI FX chain in the RK006, in the image below all input from MIDI input 2 and also hosted USBMIDI devices will be processed by the RK002 first before it's sent out to all the RK006 ports. The lower part of the image shows the FX-chain mode in the RK006 settings page.
